What is Belotero?
Belotero is a hyaluronic acid (HA) injectable filler that completely integrates into the skin tissue and specifically treats moderate-to-severe etched-in lines and wrinkles such as vertical lip lines above and around the lips. Only Belotero is created using the proprietary Cohesive Polydensified Matrix (CPM) process which produces a smooth, flexible gel that blends into the natural structure of your skin and gently fills stubborn etched-in lines and wrinkles Hyaluronic acid, a popular main component in dermal fillers, is a substance you can find throughout your body. It latches onto water molecules to keep the tissues in your body hydrated and lubricated. Because it’s already natural in your body, your tissues easily absorb fillers like Belotero over time.
Your cosmetic specialist uses a fine needle to inject Belotero dermal filler in the upper part of your dermis, the second layer of skin from the surface. Once injected, Carrie massages the area around the filler is gently massaged to spread the product and produce a natural-looking result. The number of injections you get depends on the size of your treatment area and the number of areas you want to treat.
What results can I expect with Belotero?
- Undereye/Tear Trough Concavity
- Forehead wrinkles
- Lip Lines
- Thin lips
- Small acne scars
Here’s what you can typically expect with Belotero:
• Immediate Smoothing: Similar to other HA fillers, Belotero provides instant smoothing and filling of wrinkles and folds once it’s injected.
• Natural Look and Feel: Belotero is designed to integrate with the natural structure of the skin, so results are typically smooth and natural-looking. It adapts to the individuality of your skin.
• Duration: The results from Belotero can last about 6-9 months, but this varies depending on the specific product variant used (there are different versions of Belotero for various indications), the treatment area, and individual factors such as skin type, age, and lifestyle.
• Treatment Areas: Belotero is especially effective for fine lines and moderate to severe wrinkles, including vertical lip lines, corners of the mouth, smile lines, and the lines that go from the side of the nose toward the corner of the mouth (nasolabial folds).
• Hydration: Since hyaluronic acid naturally binds water, treated areas may also appear more hydrated.
• Reversible: One advantage of hyaluronic acid fillers like Belotero is that they are reversible. If you’re not satisfied with your results, or if there are any issues, a physician can inject an enzyme called hyaluronidase to dissolve the filler.
What is Radiesse?
Radiesse is a dermal filler made of smooth calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres contained in a gel base of sodium carboxymethylcellulose. Used to restore both facial and hand volume, Radiesse can also be used to add definition in facial contouring applications.
Patients see immediate results with Radiesse while enjoying the benefits of a gradual increase in their natural collagen levels over time.
What results can I expect with Radiesse?
Radiesse is unique because it both provides immediate volume and stimulates the production of your own natural collagen for long-lasting results. Here’s what you can typically expect:
• Immediate Volume: Right after injection, Radiesse provides immediate volume and correction due to the calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in the gel carrier.
• Stimulates Collagen Production: Over time, Radiesse stimulates your body to produce its own natural collagen. Collagen is a protein that adds strength and structure to the skin.
• Natural Look and Feel: Once injected, Radiesse tends to provide results that are both natural-looking and feeling.
• Duration: Radiesse results can last a year or more in many patients. This is due to the combined effect of the immediate volumization and the longer-term collagen stimulation. However, the exact duration will depend on the treatment area, the amount of product used, and individual factors like skin type, age, and lifestyle.
• Treatment Areas: Radiesse is FDA-approved for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. It’s also approved for hand augmentation to correct volume loss in the dorsum of the hands.
• Biocompatible: Radiesse is biocompatible, which means it’s safe to use without the risk of allergic reaction. It’s also non-toxic and non-allergenic. Over time, the body metabolizes the CaHA microspheres, leaving behind only your natural collagen.
Can you combine the different injectables?
Many patients at The Rolling Stone MedSpa have two or more types of injectable treatments during a single visit.
For example, Botox or Xeomin can be administered to correct the forehead expression lines, Radiesse to fill in the nasolabial folds, and Belotero to add desired lip volume.
Well-placed Belotero and Radiesse injections can give your facial features more symmetry while improving minor contour irregularities. Multiple factors determine the longevity of the results, but one can expect at least six months or longer. Plus, you can get maintenance injections if you’re happy with the effect.
